Introduction to Polarity Therapy

Course Description

A harmonious balance and flow of energy is the goal of Polarity Therapy. There are many definitions of the word Polarity. Here it is referring to opposites as in Yin and Yang and the relationship of the positive and negative poles of the body. Energy also has many definitions. In this context the term energy is referring to the unseen vital power that animates and sustains all living beings. Polarity Therapy is a western synthesis of many eastern wisdoms meant to restore flow in life force energy within the body. This modality is a combination of specific exercises, diet, counseling and hands on therapy. A Polarity Practitioner understands energetic anatomy and makes contact with certain areas to stimulate or inhibit energy flow in order to facilitate bringing this flow back into a state of balance. Problems on the physical, mental/emotional and spiritual levels have an opportunity to resolve themselves as the life force is liberated and re-balanced. This class will offer a brief history and overview of the origins of Polarity Therapy. We will discuss the attributes of, and the relationships between, the seven major energy connections known as Chakras; The Ayurvedic Five Elements; and the positive, negative and neutral poles of the human body. The students will learn some practical hands on applications that can be used as stand alone treatments or in conjunction with any other bodywork modalities. 8 CEU's Class runs 8am-5pm with an hour lunch break.
